Orchids (Part 2)

In our flower books we have both phrases,

"Attachment to the Divine" and "Attachment for the Divine".

Perhaps it is due to the translation from French to English but it has always seemed to me that one is attached to something, not for something. We will soon have the French edition of The Spiritual Significance of Flowers on our website, motherandsriaurobindo.org so one will be able to compare the translations.

The next four photos are of Vanda trees

Vanda trees - Emotional Attachment to the Divine

Many years ago I had the opportunity to go deep into the scrub jungles of south India with a dear friend, Tanikaimani, the Director of Horticulture at the French Institute in Pondicherry. At one point we came upon the most beautiful site in this arid, supposedly barren wasteland, a grove of old tamarind trees coveredwith Vanda tessellata in full bloom! The experience of this exquisite display of beauty and "Attachment to the Divine" is as fresh today as it was 40 years ago.

Mother's comment:

"Manifold, scrupulous, neglecting nothing,
meticulous −always ready to make another effort."
